Speechless

Firstly, thank you so much for your support on the CSI Blog Hop. It was amazing reading all your comments on my blog and in an instant, I had 30+ more followers. Thank you so much for that encouragement and it certainly made my day reading the lovely comments. Be sure to check out who I selected as the lucky winner on CSI's Full Disclosure next week. Do remember to drop by my blog more often, leave a comment and I can visit your blogs too. (:

Here to share a layout that I managed to complete over the weekend. I have been quite busy recently, so its really hard to find that time to scrap but with whatever time left, I am always eager to start working on more layouts.

It has been a tradition in the past few years to do a birthday layout for myself. So here is to turning a year older and turning 27. I used elements in this layout that speaks of me right now - banners, tags, flags, clouds and buttons. I decided to finally try doing some 'star burst' effect and it turned out well too. So glad that I finally used up my SNAP papers and I love those bright colours.

I hope it inspires you to use up your stash and to find new perspectives in your existing stash. Have a great week ahead. I will be back to share on CSI Case #57 over this weekend.

CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration turned one this month, and we've been celebrating with fun and festivities all month long. But what's a birthday party without presents?

We are rounding out CSI's birthday celebration with a huge pile of presents! The talented and very generous CSI design team, aka the CSI Detectives, have prepared special blog posts for you this week, and all you have to do is leave a comment on participating design team members' blogs for a chance to receive a present from them! The more blogs you comment on, the more chances you'll have to receive a gift!
We also have the brand-new company Blue Fern Studios joining our blog hop! Our very own Detective Michele Signh is the designer of this company's beautiful chipboard, and we are delighted to have Blue Fern Studios join us to celebrate our birthday on the month they were introduced to the world!
The CSI Birthday Presents Blog Hop will run from January 25 - 29. Winners will be announced in our Full Disclosure (Announcements) Forum the following week. A newsletter will go out to members once this announcement is posted.

Here is a list of the blogs you will want to visit:

Now, lets get this party started. Case CSI #56 is officially open.

This week, we were asked to share a little tutorial on the process of doing our layouts.

So here to share how I went about making the little vellum pocket that you see on the bottom right hand corner. For someone like me who does not have a sewing machine, making a vellum pocket can still be feasibly done.

Step 1:
Cut down a vellum sheet and a piece of patterned paper to the same size. If you do not have vellum, you can also recyle any of your clear backings that come with your embellishments.

Step 2:
Use a very strong double sided tape and taped on all four corners of the patterned paper.

Step 3:
Now the fun begins.  Simply use your punches to punch out a variety of coloured confetti and placed them in the center of your patterned paper. Do remember to be careful and ensure that the confettis do not touch the sticky tape.
Step 4:
Place the vellum over the patterned paper and carefully align them together. There you have it, a simple nice vellum pocket. The good thing about using vellum is that it is semi transparent so your tapes wont be seen clearly. (:

Step 5 (additional step) :
If you are still conscious about the tape showing, simply add a border over the vellum sheet and your pocket is completed.

Here is the final close up look on my layout:

I simply added some embellishments on top of the vellum sheet and a black border strip to complete the look. Isnt it simple and easy? Do try it.. Pockets with bits of confetti are really great decorative ideas that you can add to any page. From birthdays, celebrations, parties, Christmas and girly pages.. It will sure to pop up in your pages. (:

Wow... I hope I did not bore you too much and I hope you enjoyed this simple tutorial. Be sure to visit our other designers' blogs for a chance to win a lovely giveaway.

For a chance to win a Pink Paislee's Portfolio 12x12 Collection Pack (21 papers), simply leave a comment on my blog.

I would close the comments box on 29th January (Tuesday) and winners will be announced in our Full Disclosure (Announcements) Forum the following week. This giveaway is open to both local and international scrappers so not to worry, all are welcome.

Your next stop is Lindy Gillespie.

A week in review

I cant believe I survived yet another crazy week at school. It is finally Week 3 and I cant wait for a 'shorter' week since there is going to be 3 days of camp. It will be good to start catching up on lessons preparation and hopefully, having more time to do my own things.

On the scrap front....

I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw how many people pinned my tray. I have to thank Sasha Farina for first believing in my work and placing it on Pinterest as well as Christine Middlecamp for her kind words when I sent her pictures of this tray through email. It is indeed more blessed to give than to receive. I am so glad that my parents love the tray and it stands nicely among all the antiques that are hung up on the wall.

CSI#55 is now open. Pls continue to join us as we celebrate our 1st anniversary together. Be back (at my blog) next week for a special surprise too. This week, we were asked to scraplift an element or a layout based on the first CSI case.

I chose Mistra Hoolahan's layout (Guest DT). She cleverly used swirls around her cluster of flowers and I wanted to use that element for my layout too. I had to dig deep to find my available swirls and I came across some in my Echo Park's collection. Used some gesso for my background, misted  and dripped (favourite technique now) and the rest is history. I am so glad the layout came out exactly how I wanted it to be.

I simply love this picture of K and B. Such a lovely pair of sisters. It is amazing to see how they are growing and playing together.

Moving on, I had a little spare time after coming back from CCA on Saturday. I wanted to do a layout to give to one of my graduated student. She is simply a student that every teacher dreams of having and since i know i would hardly see her again,I thought giving her a framed layout would be a nice farewell present.

This layout was put together easily, probably the fastest completed layout ever. I had a sketch in my mind, executed it and I love how it turned out. I had CP's storyteller collection for the longest time but somehow everytime I used their products, something just seemed off. I put the collection away and just last night, I decided I should give this collection one more shot and I am so glad I did. A fresh new day, a fresh new perspective. (:

So have a great week ahead...
I will be back to blog more.

Thankful Log #1

I thought I would start with a mini series of what I am thankful for. This series will be done throughout the year, whenever I feel that I have to thank God for something good or bad that has happened. This was inspired since my pastor has encouraged us to start this year with a year of gratitude.

So the first group of people that I am really thankful for are ....my colleagues. Quite frankly, when I first started out at this workplace, I couldnt quite click with the people who came in with me. Usually, my personality is really reserved and I take a long time to open up to people. I admit that would mean that people would think I am a little anti-social. (but honestly, i mean no harm) But by grace of God, I found a group of people that I could confide in, hang out with and encourage me when work gets crazy. For that, I am so thankful because when life got so uncertain, God provided in his own ways and I do look forward to work everyday. (:

This layout was dedicated to them, the group of crazy girls that I hang out with everyday. This layout was also done in conjunction with OUAS's Jan Challenge. The journalling is written on the tag, tucked behind the photo.

I wrote about my feelings about the start of a new school year, with them in mind.

" So I am glad that I am starting this new school year with you guys. We are a crazy bunch of girls who know how to work hard and play even harder. I am glad I have you guys to survive yet another crazy year. To many more years of friendship..."

;
By the way, I am really blogging more now, right? Do look forward to more posts coming up...

A Wedding (Deco) Designer for a Day!

Over the course of these few months, I have been busy preparing wedding decorations for one of my good friend's wedding. Ideas and Inspiration were truly drawn from images and pages found from Pinterest and it was so touching to see our ideas unfold as the wedding date was near. The vision for a vintage wedding was truly evident and I am so glad that it turned out the way I wanted it to be.

So enjoy as you see these pictures..

Pretty, arent they? I am glad that my hard work paid off and that the wedding was a dream come true for the couple. It was nice doing something crafty, other than scrapbooking for a day. But i guess i will retire after this wedding since it is far too time-consuming. Maybe I will do it again when it is my turn...

Monday blues

I think i went to work, with half a brain and a tired soul. It is my heaviest day and I survived. I am so glad I got back in one piece and I have the strength to blog. Here to share a layout to start Week 1 with a bang. It is for CSI#53 challenge.

By far, this is one of my most favourite layout I have ever done. I was really scared of using purple since its not my comfort colour but I am so glad that it turned out the way I imagined it to be -soft, chic and pretty. I do love making such layouts because I feel it represents me the most. (:

So join us at CSI this month as we celebrate our 1 year anniversary. I promise you that we have a lot install for the next 3 weeks. I cant wait for the reveal.

Have a great week ahead.

I miss

Allow me to indulge in some thoughts of mine..

Having being a person who strictly leaves this blog for mainly scrapbooking updates, I do need an outlet right now to express how I feel. This was my form class of 2012. A class where I taught most of them since they were 14 years old. Although they were all in different classes then, they became a class in 2011. They were my first graduating class and I guess I feel a lot. I didnt know I had these emotions bottled up in me until they graduated. I miss their crazy antics, their jokes, their sweetness, their personalities and their presence. They made teaching enjoyable and I always looked forward to going into the class. Perhaps that is what 3 years bring to a person. A bittersweet ending. Towards the end of the year, I was dying for them to graduate but now I guess I feel otherwise.

I am so thankful that I still keep in contact with a handful of them (those that I was closer to) and I do hope that never changes. As long as they want to include me in their lives, I would gladly be a part of it. I want to see them do well in life and enjoy every bit of success of their hardwork. They deserve it.

I do hope I can share the same thoughts about my form class this year too. (:  We will see..

P.S: So the Os results will be out in 5 more days. I will see them again. Hopefully, they will all walk out of the hall feeling happy with their results. That will be my greatest gift to me, on my birthday.
