MWL | Sept Assignment

Hey, I am back to do a short post since I promise to do so. This week, I am on the Made With Love's blog. This month's theme is all about celebrations. My brother turned a year older this year. We had a great celebration at an awesome place called Ubin Seafood ( a fusion of Western and Chinese cuisine) My sis-in-law received a free monopod and we were happily taking selfies. I dont think I have ever taken so many self-indulged photos before. A simple tool can bring so much joy, dont you think?

Here is the layout and some close ups....

This month, I got to work with new embellishments from Crate Paper's Notes and Things colllection, Pebbles' Home Made collection and the Teresa Collins' Life Emporium collection. Among them, I really love the new Home Made collection by Jen Hadfield. The bold colours and the gold glitter stand out so much. I went a little crazy on the gold part in the layout, as you can see.

Well, that's it. I wil drop by more often to blog.

Hiatus Over!

Wow. Its been 3 months since I last blogged. Where did the time fly to? I guess Instagram has been my constant source of updates due to my busy work schedule. But I will try to come back for more regular blog posts. I miss blogging and I hope to get back to it.

With that said, here are some of the layouts/projects I have done over the past few months.

Sketch | Made with Love March Blog Hop

Hey scrappers, it is time for another round of MWL blog hop. This week, the designers hade to make use of a sketch that inspires them and scrap about it. I chose this sketch.

This was my intepretation of the sketch and some close ups...

Products used:
Patterened Papers : Echo Park, Bella Blvd, American Crafts
Embellishments : Prima, Bella Blvd, Tim Holz and October Afternoon

I kept the arrangement of the sketch closely. What inspired me were the banners below the photo. I simply made use of a variety of patterned papers and hand cut little banners. No accurate cutting was done, for sure. Once done, layer according to your preference and ensure that all parts are overlapped.

The use of bright colours in the layout called for a balance of more neutral colours like black and white. That is my solution whenever I work with bolder colours. Lately, I have been crazy about rub ons, especially the ones by Tim Holtz. I simply cut a chunk of them out and use them for my journaling. In this case, I mixed the rub ons with some stamp sentiments.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Be sure to check out the other designers' blog in the upcoming weeks.
Have a great week ahead.

Week 10

It is finally going to be the last day of school tomorrow and with that, it is going to be a fruitful week to rest up. As you can see, I havent had much time to blog so the updates have been lacking. I will be going on a short trip to Hong Kong tomorrow after work. It is exciting, knowing that there is something to look forward to.

My thoughts and prayers are also with the #MH370 plane. I cant imagine the pain and the agony of what they went through and the people they left behind. Do pray.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." 2 Cor1:3-4

;

Some updates on the scrapbooking end, I joined Pretty Little Studio this march and these are the layouts and cards done thus far..

I am stil trying to find my style, in the midst of the diverse products PLS has. I am sure you will agree that  a cutsy style is so not me. But surprisingly, I have been loving the layouts done with their products. I am so happy that I am on board such a talented DT that sees my potential.

;

Up next, it was my turn on the Crate Paper's blog. Be sure to check out the link to see an in depth post of how I made this corkboard-inspired display tray. With 20 talented designers, I am sure you will be inspired by the different array of projects we put up. I hope you find that in me too. :D

It was hard work, getting this tray done. The thin cork sheets couldnt be trimmed by the trimmer as it ripped easily. I had to cut down each sheet to fit the rectangular columns within the tray. I am so happy that it turned out the way I wanted to. The Maggie Holmes' Styleboard collection is my current favourite. I am such a CP fan and I think that will never change.

 I worked on a layout too. One of the techniques I love most is die cutting. This hand drawn heart shape filled with sequins is my way of personalizing and representing 'ME' on a page. Cant wait to use more of this colleciton on more layouts!

Have a great week everyone!
 I will be back soon.

5 things | Made with Love Feb Blog Hop

Welcome to another month's of blog hop with the MWL Design Team members. We decided to switch things up for this month. Each week, one designer will be given the spotlight as they share more about themselves. This week, the spotlight is on me!

Lets get started..

5 things you might not know about me:

1) I am an introvert. People might find me aloof and nonchalant but often times, I just take a long time to adapt to new friends and a new environment. Once you know me, I can be the most talkative friend you will have.

2) I was in an all girls school for ten years. TEN YEARS. Nothing wrong about it, it was just that we were never allowed to have long hair. Imagine the agony. That is why I never had short hair ever since I was 16 years old.

3) I love the rain. Plain and simple. I simply love listening to the patterning sound of falling rain drops. It is especially soothing when it is pouring outside while I snuggle under my bed sheets.

4) I dislike the colour, pink. I am the least bit girly. Ironically, pink is the most used colour in all my scrapbooking projects.

5) I scrap best when there are no distractions, no music and no one around.

;

Yup, thats about it. I do hope you have come to know me a little better.  Moving on, let me share with you the layout that I did with the February Kit.

With the frames, I simply backed it with some embossed vellum paper. The little dots do remind me of rain, don't you think?

I am not particular about mistakes that I make on my layouts. If you can spot, I stamped the date one too many times. There is no wrong or right in scrapbooking. A mistake made can still turn out to be aesthetically pleasing. :D

Lastly, I love this photo of B, K and Mom. This was taken over the CNY period and their smiles in this photo simply melted my heart. Even though the photo is about them and not about me, but when you scrap about the people you love, you are also scrapping about yourself too.

Products and Papers used:
Yours Truly collection by Pebbles
Love Note collection by Crate Paper
Vintage Frames by Melissa Frances

 Be sure to check out the rest of the other MWL DT blogs in the coming weeks. Have a great week ahead.

Saturday Bliss

It is good to be able to wake up late on a Saturday morning. How rare is it, for me to wake up without worrying about work. Last night was a ball too! Awesome company with my friends at a new cafe in town and Karoake thereafter with my trusted colleague, Song! It is all good. I am hoping to get some scrapping done today too!

For now, two recent layouts to share..

I used papers and products from the latest Oh Darling collection by Crate Paper. Gorgeous array of girly products that I absolutely adore. One of the resolution I have this year would be to work on my titles. I do want to push myself creatively to think of better titltes instead of sticking to the usual boring ones. I am going to work on it for sure!

I will be back on Tuesday for another post. Do look forward to it. Its my turn, for the MWL Feb Blog Hop. Be sure to check it out on that day as I share more about myself and my scrapping journey. It's going to be exciting!

Have a great weekend ahead.

Say I Love You

It has been a fruitful week so far. The Chinese New Year is here and we have been celebrating it over this weekend with lots of visitations, food and company. It is certainly a time to be joyful as we catch up with friends and family. I am also taking the opportunity to rest up as I fell sick this week. Thank God, I am better now.

Over at the Crate Paper's blog this week, I did a post on little mini projects embarked for this Valentine's Day. Be sure to check the link out. These envelopes (containing love notes) and mini album are so dear to me now. I simply hope my family members would love them when I display them on Feb 14.

I am so in love with the Love Note collection. Crate Paper has outdid themselves again. I am truly thankful for another awesome year with them. Be sure to head over the blog today.

Have a great weekend.

The Reveal

After keeping mum about this for a long time, I can officially say it out here. I am now a part of the Pretty Little Studio Design Team. I was jumping for joy when I received the email from Melissa and I cant wait for my products to arrive so that I can get started on my projects. Do look out for my upcoming posts in March.

Up next, I will be a part of the Crate Paper design team for 2014. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful team. Truly, it is an honour as it has been and always will be my favourite brand. To be able to design for them is still a dream come true and I am so glad that they chose me. We have started work on our Jan assignments so do look out for my post, coming soon!

;

It has been a great year so far and for that, I am thankful to God who provided and i am looking forward in seeing how this year will turn out.

Have a great week ahead.

Made with Love Jan Blog Hop

Welcome to another month's of MWL Blog Hop! I am a little late in sharing this due to my hectic work schedule. I finally am able to post things up today. Well, better late than never! Haha.

First up, a layout using papers and products from Fancy Pants, Studio Calico and October Afternoon.

The focus of this layout was to concentrate on stamping and words. I finally tried my Studio Calico ALPHANUMERIC roller stamp and did a repeated 'Lets Party' phrase at the top of the layout.

Up next, a school card made in a similar fashion.

It was my first time making a school card but I am loving how it turned out. I focused on using some school based products from October Afternoon and used my all time favourite stamp from Ali Edwards to do the wordings.

Hope you love what you see! Be sure to drop by and check out the other talented ladies' work.
