Flea Market Mini Albums + Giveaways on CP's blog and Instagram

Hey all, I hope everyone is having a splendid week so far. Work has been really relaxing and now that the kids are off for their holidays, I can start preparing for the next school term. I cant wait for the long Dec Hols to come and very soon, i will be back at my favourite place in the world, Hong Kong!

For now, head over to the Crate Paper's blog. Today, I am sharing how I did these two mini albums, altered and made to slot in our collection of polaroid images.

I had so much fun making them and trust me, the steps are really simple. Given that I am not someone that loves measurements, I always try to find the easiest solution to things.

The best part! Crate Paper has generously offered a Flea Market collection giveaway too.

Giveaway
It's been far too long since we last celebrated a Flea Market giveaway, so today, we're honoring Jeanette's stunning mini by bundling a box of Flea Market happiness and giving it away to one very lucky crafter! All we ask of you to participate in the giveaway is to note your must-have item from the Flea Market collection. Tell us via comment which Flea Market item captures your fancy - we'll announce the winner this Friday, November 1st! Good Luck and have fun!

Oh and did I mention? I am always also giving away one of the minis that I did for this tutorial. This is purely my own doing and I hope you will participate along. This album can fit 10-15 polaroid images and I am sure it will be a lovely gift for yourself or for your loved ones. Drop by my Instagram for more details. Closing Date is 4th Nov 2013.

Have a great week ahead.

Crate Chalkboard Week

This week, Crate Paper is showcasing all things chalkboard. Chalk is really IN right now and you do see a lot of companies coming up with their own chalkboard lines. I took on the challenge and here is my take...

I started with black cardstock paper and used a background stamp and white pigment ink to stamp random images throughout. Before the white ink dried, I used my fingers to smudge certain parts of the stamped images. This created areas that were more pronounced than others and left behind a smudgy chalk effect. To match my darker background color, I knew I would use bolder, brighter embellishments from the Flea Market collection. I opted for a black and white photo, a perfect complement as it helps make the scrapbook process easier with less conflicting colors to deal with.

If you are wondering, the background stamp is from Basic Grey. It is by far my most favourite background stamp. I especially love the look of this stamp when it is embossed in white.

Be sure to check out the Crate Paper's blog to the DT's take on chalk.

Dont forget that my GIVEAWAY is ending in 4 days time. Be sure to hop by and leave a comment if you want a chance to win. All are welcome. (:

Have a great Sunday!

October Favourites + Giveaway

A new post for the brand new week. I am sharing some of my October favourites this month. Be sure to check them out if you find them useful.

1.  I am loving my new custom blog header. Alexandra Collective shares a great tutorial that is easy to understand and I am pretty sure that PicMonkey is my current best friend right now.

2.  The Sam Willows. I first discovered this local band when my friends and I went for a private sale at Robinsons. They sounded so amazing LIVE, one of the best I have heard.  Their rendition of Radioactive by Imagine Dragons is my go to song now. (trust me, I didnt even like the song to begin in but they changed my mind.)

3. My current favourite has got to be the Shu Uemura gel eyeliner pencil. Easy to use, does not smudge your eyelids and way cheaper than investing money into gel pots. Best thing is that I no longer need to waste my time sharpening pencil eyeliners.

4. The Cam Scanner app is a free app for iphones and android phones. It is my current favourite tool to use at work, especially since I do not own a scanner. Simply take a photo and the app ensures that the photo is scanned to the highest quality. Send it to an email address and retrieve the file. Easy peasy!

5. Hello fall, you are mine. These flock jeans by Zara caught my eye today. Uber comfortable and fits in all the right places. Cant wait to wear them out.

..

Drumroll, please. Its been awhile but I am finally doing a giveaway on this blog. This is what you stand to win. A perfect giveaway for the upcoming festive seasons for Fall and Christmas. I even threw in my all time favourite Halloween line from Cosmo Cricket. Do you notice the lovely Prima flowers? Perfect colours to start your celebrations.

Update : The winner is Linda Morgan. She has been notified of the giveaway. Thanks all for the comments. :D

Almost there

School is winding down and the holidays are finally coming. In exactly one month, I would be flying off to Hong Kong and I simply cant wait to get there again. This is the part that I love most about year ends. School activities get lesser, the kids leave for their early holidays and I get to spend time to preparing for next year. Work life gets a whole lot better and I can find myself immersing in other hobbies. Hooray to that!

How's your Sunday so far? For me, it has been great thus far. Catching up on my television series, shopping in town and to finally, sit down on my scrap desk and enjoy good quality scrapbooking time. Stay tune as I will be doing a giveaway on my blog soon. Cant wait to roll it out on my blog...

Sharing a layout that I did two weeks ago..

I love these photos that I took of B and K at the new MWL store. I am sure some of these photos look rather familiar. They have lotsa of fun there and I cant wait to bring them back again. Dont you love the CP's Close Knit collection? It is by far, one of my favourite lines from them. The warm and soft colours are a perfect match to anything related to family. I couldnt bear to use them at first, but now I simply cant stop. Haha.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Made with Love 1st DT assignment

As you all know, my favourite local scrapbook store is back in town.. And I am so honoured to be a part of this wonderful design team. We were given our first assignment this week and with the kit that was provided, I did a card and a layout.

Did i mention that I was super excited when I received the kit? It was like opening up presents on Christmas Day. It was awesome, being able to work with items from the kit. It truly challenges me to think outside the box and use whatever that is given. (:

First up, a layout using the kit...

I used the photos and the patterned papers to form a grid format across the page. This is one orientation that I love to use on my layouts. I used the wood veneer tags and hearts in two ways here. Firstly, backing up the wood tag with patterned paper...

Also, I left the heart wood veneers raw and used it as an area for clustering little details such as the staplet and the enamel dots.

Supplies
Patterned papers : Webster Pages
Embellishments : Prima wood veneers
                          MWL flaire badges
                          MME cut and paste stickers
                          AC alpha rub ons

Up next, I made a card using the same kit provided. As you all know, I am truly not a cardmaker. So this was pretty much a challenging task.

Supplies
Patterned papers - WeRMemoryKeepers and Webster Pages
Embellishments - Prima Wood Veneers, Misc Apple Clip

Using one of the phrase tags found in the Webster Page's patterned paper, I used it as my focus for the card. It would serve as my sentiment too. To match the florals on the phrase tag, I embossed a floral background with white embossing ink. I embossed the heart wood veneers too, which is another great way of adding texture. To match the seasonal fall theme, I hand cut green leaves and placed a small yellow flower sequin on top. In the kit, I was also provided a cute green apple clip that matched so well with this seasonal card.

Do check out the blogs of the other talented MWL DT ladies too.

Its Sunday

Its been a hectic week, with endless marking since the exam scripts came in. I managed to mark everything over this weekend and I can finally enjoy my Sunday in peace. YEAHHH!

Over at the Crate Paper's blog this week, i shared about this altered canvas frame I made. Head over there for more details. Here is the link.

Here's one for Sunday. I managed to scrap just now. I used the Polka Party Collection by Dear Lizzy. Still loving the blues and greens in this line.

Have a great week ahead.
