CSI Birthday Presents Blog Hop (Tutorial and Giveaway)

CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration turned one this month, and we've been celebrating with fun and festivities all month long. But what's a birthday party without presents?

We are rounding out CSI's birthday celebration with a huge pile of presents! The talented and very generous CSI design team, aka the CSI Detectives, have prepared special blog posts for you this week, and all you have to do is leave a comment on participating design team members' blogs for a chance to receive a present from them! The more blogs you comment on, the more chances you'll have to receive a gift!
We also have the brand-new company Blue Fern Studios joining our blog hop! Our very own Detective Michele Signh is the designer of this company's beautiful chipboard, and we are delighted to have Blue Fern Studios join us to celebrate our birthday on the month they were introduced to the world!
The CSI Birthday Presents Blog Hop will run from January 25 - 29. Winners will be announced in our Full Disclosure (Announcements) Forum the following week. A newsletter will go out to members once this announcement is posted.

Here is a list of the blogs you will want to visit:

Now, lets get this party started. Case CSI #56 is officially open.

This week, we were asked to share a little tutorial on the process of doing our layouts.

So here to share how I went about making the little vellum pocket that you see on the bottom right hand corner. For someone like me who does not have a sewing machine, making a vellum pocket can still be feasibly done.

Step 1:
Cut down a vellum sheet and a piece of patterned paper to the same size. If you do not have vellum, you can also recyle any of your clear backings that come with your embellishments.

Step 2:
Use a very strong double sided tape and taped on all four corners of the patterned paper.

Step 3:
Now the fun begins.  Simply use your punches to punch out a variety of coloured confetti and placed them in the center of your patterned paper. Do remember to be careful and ensure that the confettis do not touch the sticky tape.
Step 4:
Place the vellum over the patterned paper and carefully align them together. There you have it, a simple nice vellum pocket. The good thing about using vellum is that it is semi transparent so your tapes wont be seen clearly. (:

Step 5 (additional step) :
If you are still conscious about the tape showing, simply add a border over the vellum sheet and your pocket is completed.

Here is the final close up look on my layout:

I simply added some embellishments on top of the vellum sheet and a black border strip to complete the look. Isnt it simple and easy? Do try it.. Pockets with bits of confetti are really great decorative ideas that you can add to any page. From birthdays, celebrations, parties, Christmas and girly pages.. It will sure to pop up in your pages. (:

Wow... I hope I did not bore you too much and I hope you enjoyed this simple tutorial. Be sure to visit our other designers' blogs for a chance to win a lovely giveaway.

For a chance to win a Pink Paislee's Portfolio 12x12 Collection Pack (21 papers), simply leave a comment on my blog.

I would close the comments box on 29th January (Tuesday) and winners will be announced in our Full Disclosure (Announcements) Forum the following week. This giveaway is open to both local and international scrappers so not to worry, all are welcome.

Your next stop is Lindy Gillespie.
